PREFEITAS NO SUL DE MINAS GERAIS: como estruturas sociais afetam as dirigentes do poder executivo

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to question whether gender differences interfere in a particular or administrative way in the life of a mayor, also analyzing for better contextualization and understanding if the same issues interfered in the electoral race. In search of the answers, interviews were made with four mayors from the southern region of Minas Gerais. The names of the interviewees and the municipalities, as in previous agreement, will not be disclosed. Such research aimed to understand and contextualize the issues stemming from patriarchal creation and machismo in society, as this may interfere with the path chosen by a woman who seeks to become a public representative, specifically a mayor. It has been postulated that the intervention of patriarchalism, machismo and gender issues are inevitable, since the Brazilian woman continues to be a constant victim of violence and this also supports those seeking a political career. But there are different ways that such interventions take place, either during the political campaign or after being elected. Understanding in which issues the machismo and patriarchalism that surrounds the prefects acts is important in a society like the Brazilian, where the woman still has a small political representation and is a victim of constant aggressions related to the gender.
