Abstract

This monograph “The reality of the basis categories of the Atlético Mineiro Club: the challenges for becoming a professional” introduces the history of the Club, its structure, philosophy and titles achieved in the basis category. Hundreds of Young people have the chance of getting a vacancy in the club and of becoming great revelations of the Brazilian and international soccer. All the Young people receive the support and resources required for their professional and personal development. Through a bibliographical research carried out in the site of the team and in references published, information will be collected on the everyday life of the teenagers in the basis category. It shows that in order for the Young boys to reach the basis category, they have to be very good at playing soccer and to go Through a selection test called screening. They are chosen Through observers who previously identify the athletes in other competitions, the screening being open, whit the participation of applicants that contact the club and set a date for a test. There is also the interest of the club in these Young talents who may make much Money and achieve titles. On the part of the Young boys, their interest is to enter in the soccer teams of the clubs and to make success, thereby taking their Family out of poverty.
