CINOMOSE CANINA EM CARNÍVOROS SILVESTRES E EXÓTICOS: revisão de literatura

Abstract

Canine distemper is a viral disease caused by RNA viruses of the family Paramyxoviridae, of the genus Morbillivirus. It is a direct infectious disease characterized by transmission mainly by aerosols and/or direct contact with various secretions. Clinical signs involve gastrointestinal changes, respiratory and more severe cases neurological changes. The dog is the main and most important reservoir, but it can affect several wild and exotic carnivores, such as all members of the Canidae family and other carnivores of the Ailuridae, Felidae, Mustelidae, Procyonidae, Ursidae, Viveridae and marine mammals. And for this reason, canine distemper presents itself as an emerging disease in wild and exotic carnivores, with no reports of specific and effective effective specials for these species. For this reason, early diagnosis has become the veterinarian's main ally in combating this disease. Thus, the present work carried out a literature review on the canine distemper virus in wild and exotic carnivores, elucidating important facts about the disease in these species. In addition, it organized a clinical examination protocol for wild and exotic carnivores as a suggestion to aid in the diagnosis of distemper.
