DOCUMENTÁRIO: Padre Victor do Povo

Abstract

The present documentary gathers images and interviews related to the "Festa do Padre Victor" (Father Victor’s Feast), an event that happens annually in the town of Três Pontas (Minas Gerais State, Brazil), on September, 23rd. The celebrations, which refer to the Father’s Anniversary of Death, are preceded by a Novena (a cycle of prayers which are repeated for nine successive days). The documentary "Padre Victor Patrono" (Patron Father Victor) brings, in approximately 12 minutes, filmings of the day before and of the celebration day. People interviewed relate experiences that, in their understanding, are miracles attributed to Father Victor – a Beatified Person of the Catholic Church who may become the first Brazilian black saint after the process of Canonization in progress at the Vatican. People also comment on other facts that mark their stories and which have a strong connection with the Father. Três Pontas is the place where the Beatified One accomplished his work. The figure of Father Victor is part of Trespontan religiosity and culture. As a final result, a documentary video will be presented that addresses the field of human and singular experiences, with interviews and images of such a manifestation of faith.
