ARQUITETURA RELIGIOSA: Proposta Arquitetônica do Centro Comunitário Santo Afonso

Abstract

The present work deals with the architectural proposal of a Community Center in an area adjacent to the Church of Santo Afonso, belonging to the Parish of Santa Clara, Varginha, Minas Gerais. In order to provide the practice of social activities that support the needy community, the proposal aims to meet the needs of the Church and the community it is inserted in, creating functional spaces, reinforcing solidarity and encouraging social interaction. With this, the problem arises: How to integrate the community center to the church and how to benefit the population of its surroundings? For this, theoretical studies were carried out to understand what is a community center and its activities; what social demands are currently; the concept of the Church and the movement of the faithful in a national perspective; besides the understanding of the Master Plan and other pertinent legislation. The results indicate that there is a lack of knowledge about the importance of this type of space for the less favored population and the few that exist, they face difficulties to maintain themselves. Therefore, it is concluded that it is necessary to divulge more about its importance and about the benefits that this space brings to society.
