Abstract

This work aims to analyze the safety conditions of the Tograf brand cardboard printer, and to implement the necessary resources to avoid possible accidents. The printer has a table, at the entrance of the machine, which is used to supply the cardboard sheets. This table has an opening in the shape of a "U" to facilitate the operator's access to the printing rollers. The problem happens when using a cardboard sheet more than 800 mm wide. On this occasion, the mechanism that inserts the plate into the machine, together with the opening of the table, creates a kind of "guillotine" that creates the risk of amputation of the operator's limbs. The objective of this work is to develop a protection that guarantees the physical integrity of the operator, without harming the operation of the machine. The project aims to carry out the following activities: to analyze the operator's working conditions, to analyze the mechanical components that generate the risk of accident, to collect the measures of the machine, to verify if the material available for the manufacture of the protection meets the applied loads, construction and prototype installation. Every week the media circulates news about accidents that occurred in the workplace. This project aims to eliminate a possible safety fault in the machine, improving the working conditions of the operator. Therefore, it is concluded that a well-designed and installed protective cover can improve the employee's working conditions, even generating an improvement in productivity, due to the increase in equipment reliability.
