UM PODCAST SOBRE A (NÃO) REPRESENTATIVIDADE DA MULHER NEGRA NO TELEJORNALISMO DE VARGINHA

Abstract

This work proposes the creation of a podcast that reflects the lack of black women in television journalism in Varginha, Minas Gerais. The analysis addresses the current scenario of inequality in the country, which, in addition to race and ethnicity, is also related to the female gender. The text “A mulher negra no telejornalismo de Varginha” “Black women in Varginha's television journalism” considers the structural racism that remains present in society as well as in television stations, one of the reasons why the visibility of black reporters and presenters in television news is not present. The purpose of this research was to understand the profile of journalists who act as newscasters in the city and through the data obtained from quantitative and exploratory research. It was noted that the number of black women working on the city's stations is lower compared to the number of white women. In addition, there was a certain lack of black race/ethnicity in the local journalistic environments, analyzed through the programming of four stations such as EPTV Sul de Minas, Alterosa, Rede Mais and TV Princesa. The podcast produced here as the final product of this course completion work was a conversation circle among black women that addressed issues about racism and better social status, based on the data obtained.
