Abstract

During the military dictatorship, football was used as a form of political instrument, making sport a channel of information and propaganda for the regime, at a time when the main media were television, radio, and newspaper, and the public in It were generally customary to absorb the message as absolute truth. In addition, of course, it also showing how football, through teams and athletes, organized political movements with antagonistic ideas to the government. The research also details how football and politics mix and influence each other, demystifying the idea that has been propagated for a long time, that both are separate subjects and that they do not intersect.
