ASPECTOS FISIOLÓGICOS DO ENVELHECIMENTO HUMANO: percepção do profissional de enfermagem de nível médio

Abstract

Recent research has demonstrated an increase in life expectancy and an increase in the population compared to that of young people, which results in the need for mid-level nursing professionals to be aware that the body's ability to maintain homeostasis is increasingly diminished with cell aging, and organ systems can not function with full efficiency because of cell and tissue deficits, and thus the elderly person is compromised in responding to definitive treatment. The results obtained in the research reveal the level of knowledge of these professionals, which has a real and extremely important role in the care of these patients, especially during hospitalization, where, in addition to the cellular and tissue deficit of the aging process, there is aggravation of the disorder concomitant disease. This work seeks to unveil the knowledge of nursing professionals. of medium level, regarding the physiological alterations of the elderly, emphasizing that the good knowledge as well as knowledge deficit of these professionals who act directly with the elderly patient has a great influence in the hospital rehabilitation of the gerontological patient.
