PROJETO DE UMA NOVA SEDE DO CAPS II EM VARGINHA

Abstract

This work refers to an architectural project designed for a new headquarters of the Center for Adult Psychosocial Care (CAPS II) in Varginha, MG. Part of the notion that this public device should act in harmony with the social, because its users with psychic suffering usually tend to damage these ties. The CAPS inaugurates a new way of treatment in mental health, which the coexistence between equals and with the society is the pillar of the restoration of the subject in suffering. Although this is the principle of its functioning, we still see a logic of segregation, often favored even by its physical and architectural structure. The project was elaborated from the analysis that took into7 account the local architecture, its history, the relation of the mental health work with the society, the aspects referring to the relation of the constructed space and the free spaces of the city, besides a study of similar places and guidelines established by the Ministry of Health. In order to make space a place of encounter and interaction with society, the architecture was designed in a fragmented way so as to accommodate the patients' needs, the multidisciplinary team's more humanized treatment and the purpose of CAPS II itself to be a social space for the treatment of psychic suffering
